just wondering with a quick question, im not sure if it fits in this forum,
but
i put my house near a beach
when I travel (by boat) to an island on the other side of the ocean, my 5 wolves won't teleport even when im on the island, i have to be so close to them in the boat to lure them with me, which took about 15 minutes, but its a big sea, atleast 650 blocks away on the x-axis. i read the rules about teleportation and all the requirements were correct
i still dont know why they dont teleport, is it because of the distance?
It could be a glitch. I always have glithes like this, but I can't fix them. Maybe the world has a problem with making the wolves AI work. There are always glitches happening with world gen and did you make the world in a previous version and tame your wolves in a previous version too. The wolves could have been changed in that section of AI and be conflicting the 2 or more codes for teleportation. Also don't know how to fix this.
its a new world I generated a week ago and i found the wolves about 3 days ago. what was weird was i boated to the place after the island at the edge of the ocean and i signed off, i signed on the next day and all 5 of them tp to the same spot in front of me
Just an error running the code maybe due to lag...
Or maybe dogs can't tp into water and the chunk done unloaded by time you made it to your house.

Aaaafffffter reveiwing the Wiki, I have deducted that wolves cannot teleport to the player while swimming/boating in deep water.
By figuring this out, I have pieced together the conclusion that you tamed the wolves, told them to follow you, they followed you till you were 16 blocks away from them, you were over deep water in the ocean, and by time you reached your beach, the chunk your dogs were in was unloaded, so my advice, create nether portals that can be traveled from your wolf island to your home base since the nether has 1 block in the nether= to 8 blocks in the overworld.
I felt like a detective.
