Attempting to explain this bug as best I can, the average Minecraft player's "cursor" becomes fixed to the center of their screen, to the crosshair. Then, when you move your mouse, you are not moving the cursor so much as you are moving the camera, and the cursor remains fixed.
When I play Minecraft, my cursor is not fixed, and is instead allowed to float, unseen, away from the crosshair at the center of the screen. The greater the distance between the cursor and the center of the screen, the faster the camera will accelerate in that direction to try and "reach" the cursor. Upon loading any given world, this leads me to spawn with my camera spinning rapidly while staring at the ceiling. Though camera control can be wrestled back by carefully returning the invisible cursor to the center of the screen, it's not an ideal way to play. Adjusting the camera feels like RPG style ice physics, and it makes navigating the world of Minecraft a nightmare, and, though doable, I would surely be zombie bait without the ability to aim a sword strike.
Full disclosure: I am running a Windows install of Minecraft on a MacBook Pro using Parallels Desktop (in order to enjoy Feed The Beast mod packs). Attempting to play the game - vanilla or otherwise - always yields this bug when on my Windows desktop. The Mac install, in comparison, is fully functional.
This bug only started occurring a short week - week and a half ago. Since then I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling both Feed the Beast and vanilla Minecraft, along with all their associated files. I have reinstalled Java, wondering if the fault lie there. I have also taken to fruitlessly analyzing background processes while the game is running. In short, I have no idea how to fix this problem and would appreciate the sage advice of the Minecraft community. Thanks for your time, folks.

Error: Unable to access jarfile LWJGL_Updater.jar
EDIT:
I successfully downloaded the .jar elsewhere. When I run the .bat and click "Update" I get the following...
Update! Complete
Status: Done
Current Version: false
Newest Version: Failed to load
I tried running the game thereafter and the bug persists. Further advice?
