Right, I've had this problem ever since 'Creative' was added to Minecraft and it annoys the hell out of me as I like to build a lot (but this problem stops me from completing anything). I have a new computer and this problem has started again but more slowly this time. Now let me be specific about this problem:
After a few days (real-life) of building in a world, in a small area, the problem begins. Blocks placed cause a massive but split second lag spike that causes the block to be placed twice. This area in which this happens becomes bigger and bigger then destroying blocks causes this lag problem. Doors, levers and buttons are effected too.
This problem is a Minecraft bug but having a crap computer/laptop does make the problem worse (like making the problem happen in 'Survival').
So, any ideas on how to fix this?
!!!THE MOUSE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SO DO NOT BLAME THE MOUSE!!!!
I really don't want to download anything. My computer is Windows 7, processor is Intel Core i5.
You have to or else this will not be fixed, at least try. Your computer is better than mine processor wise, I only have a Core i3, and it runs Minecraft okay, so it's not your computer, and it's new.
I'm having a ton of trouble downloading (not installing but actually downloading, stupid internet connection) Syfaro's LWJGL Auto-Updater, not to mention the link you gave me Tedster is not working. Anything else that will help?
I've been using the Feed The Beast modpack, specifically the Direwolf20 pack, and there seems to be mod(s) that help prevent some lag. As proof I did a test. In both vanilla and FTB I set my settings to the lowest, and noted the difference in fps. In vanilla with all settings at their lowest, I can get around 20-30fps but that tends to drop a bit to 15-17fps. In FTB I get above 70fps. Also render distance makes a massive difference in FTB I find, from 20fps in Normal but over 70fps in Tiny.
So I will be using FTB for building projects from now on and I get some awesome mods as well! Tell me if using FTB works for you as well, Somewhat.
If anyone can tell me which mod/mods it is that's doing this that would be helpful.
