I bought Minecraft via the Mojang site on Saturday yet I have never been able to log in. I can log into the Mojang web site and my account shows that I have purchased Minecraft but when I try to use that same login info in the Minecraft client all I get is Login Failed.

I used the apparently super secret customer support form to ask for help but it is four days later and still no response from them. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked at it, but that is not my problem. The hosts file is empty. There are no active lines in it (the few lines that are in there are commented out). I can download the installer just fine. I can run it and everything seems fine there too. It is only when I type in the username and password at the bottom right of the screen that it flashes the words Login Failed and tells me nothing else.

I've tried this process on three different computers and I can't log in on any of them. My user/pass is correct for the Mojang site because I can log in there with no problem. It is just when I try to log in with the windows client that I cannot get in.

Same here, the vanilla launcher throws Can't Connect ,etc. and no amount of clean installs of Java/deleting the .minecraft folder have helped. Hosts file is clear as well and my AV has been Minecraft friendly for a while.The vanilla launcher won't connect, yet playing from the browser works just fine.
