Hello. My first post, so I hope that I do everything right in it.
Symptoms:
Every time I connect to an external server (ie, one that is not on LAN), I can connect, but all server-side entities (chunks, players, mobs, chat, actions, etc.) start smoothly, but quickly become increasingly choppy. Eventually nothing happens and I get an error stating "Connection Lost/Timed Out" (the '/' represents a line break). Now, the thing is that on my end, the game is perfectly smooth. I can run around in circles at 60 FPS without any problems. The only problem is the server connection.
Attempted Treatments:
I have re-installed Minecraft by deleting my .minecraft folder. I have re-installed my networking drivers. Both my 64 and 32 bit Java installations have been re-installed. I have done both pingtest and speedtest, and they come back satisfactory.
Notes:
Other Java networked games work (I have been able to use Runescape), as does connecting via LAN. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would really love to be able to do mcpvp from my new 12-core computer.

alright, my first thought is, is that if you have a 12 core computer, your frame rate should be much higher. Are you running programs in the background like dropbox, or something like that?
I don't know. I know that other computers on the router can connect to the same servers that I have been using to benchmark my fix attempts, so I doubt that the problem is with the router. I'll check the computer.
If you're still having this problem, check that your wireless(or wired) card's drivers are installed correctly. It might be worth reinstalling them just on case. That's certainly an odd problem.

Also, bumping posts repeatedly looks really bad.
