I know this problem has probably been done to death, and solved millions of times over but I can't seem to get any solutions to work for me.
When I try to run the normal Minecraft launcher I am greeted by a message:
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occourred. Program will exit.
This has been happening since upgrading my Java to Java 7 4 days ago.
Solutions I have tried:
Downgrading to Java 6 = Failed
Setting both Java and Minecraft to 'Run as Administrator' in their settings = Failed
Clearing my browser and Java caches = Failed
Trying to delete and re-install the .minecraft folder = Failed due to the launcher not even starting up so not able to re-download the folders
Un-installing and reinstalling both Java 6 and Java 7 = Failed.
Updating my graphics card drivers = Failed
I even tried opening minecraft with Anjo's cracked launcher which I found (I have since bought minecraft, don't worry, it was my early trial of Minecraft.) and it came up with a completely different error message. it read:
No JVM [Java Virtual Memory] could be found on your system.
Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME
to point to an installed 32-bit JDK or JRE or download a JRE from www.java.com
I'm at a loss. in the past few days I have got it to work twice, and that was after opening the launcher as the computer had just hit the desktop screen, but today this did not work.
I am not keen to try the .bat file method as it sounds like you have to run it through that, which I am reluctant to do.
Can anybody help?
I have an Intel Core 2 duo CPU T6570 running at 2.1 GHz with 2MB of ram on a 32-bit Windows 7 OS.
I will try pretty much all suggestions, as I really need minecraft back. I am using it for a project in class and if I don't have it, my project goes out the window.....
Are you sure it isn't blocking Java files at all?
You may want to try installing Java in Safe mode.
I'm not sure, to the first, how do I check? I'm pretty sure it isn't though because other Java files will work on my computer and the internet, it's just minecraft that won't.
And to the second? How to get into safe mode, and what is that likely to do?

Retired StaffI have ZoneAlarm Pro running, but it's mostly on default settings, I haven't fiddled around with it too much.
