ok, but it says that my system is doesn't meet the minimum requirements for it. I am using windows 8, does that affect it?
There's currently a lot of bugs with Minecraft on Windows 8, one of which is the graphics card error report bug. Here's some things that you can use to try and fix your problems.
Go onto your Desktop and right click and goto Screen Resolution then to Advance Setting, Troubleshoot and if it shows a slider bar thing change it so it's on the third setting. This should allow you to run Minecraft now, if not check if you need any updates on your graphics card.
