I have been trying to figure out what to do to start minecraft...I keep getting an error about not being able to find an accelerated opengl. I have already tried updating my driver, redownloading the launcher, and updating windows but it keeps giving me this error.
Bad video card drivers! -----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

that Idea also didn't work. I have been searching up possible fixes that haven't worked [I guess my graphics card isn't new enough or maybe just doesn't support a high enough version of opengl?]

You got that right, you probably need to replace your video card driver.
You got that right, you probably need to replace your video card driver.
Just so you know, the 82945G express chipset can run Minecraft perfectly, albeit poorly. The problem just resides on the rendering problem of which the CPU cannot handle. (Which is why I asked to turn down hardware acceleration).
well this computer was meant to be a "CAD station" that my dad uses for work so I figured that it should work due to the fact that it is made to run far more complex programs on it. I think that this problem (as difficult as it may be) can be fixed without buying a new gpu.

Office programs aren't as advanced as you think they are. I don't think your computer can handle Minecraft. A hospital computer can't even run a simple chart program without extreme lag.
Update your drivers.
Make sure advanced OpenGL is off in the cfg / ini file in the .minecraft folder.
Make sure that your graphics options for your chipset are set low. If they already are, play with them a bit. (Right click menu, graphics options).
I ended up just fixing another computer at my house that was just gathering dust, and played it on that computer. Thanks for all the help, and thank you all for your time. Dig long and prosper!

The hardware acceleration might be on full, just slide that to just about half, then load up minecraft again.

Retired StaffTry fiddling with the slider and go down, and relaunch Minecraft.
