I recently updated to 1.4.6. Ever since then, whenever I enter my offline world, it takes a very long time to load, and doesn't fully load my world. I don't spawn at my spawn point. I spawn in a random spot (always the same spot) about 100 blocks away from my spawn point. The world only loads a section about 30 blocks by 30 blocks around me, and I can literally jump off the edge and fall all the way down, past bedrock. I can still place and destroy blocks in that area, but if I leave and come back none of my changes are saved. Please help! I just wanna work on my castle...
I know how you feel, I've had some of the same issues as you. Ever since minecraft got rid of single player and merged it with multiplayer, everything has been so glitchy.
The reason you are no longer spawning at your spawn point is because it is now a multiplayer spawn, so you could spawn anywhere within a 20 block radius of that original spawn point.
I've had the same issues with chunks not loading. I think what's happening is the server and your game are slow to respond to each other so you get large sections of the world that don't load in. The only thing that i can suggest that has helped me is whenever you start to see things like that, hit exit but don't quit the game and just let it sit there and think for awhile. After a bit it usually catches up and things start working again. Have any screen shots of what's going on?

I will post some screenshots later today. If I remember...
I don't know, 454 GB is excellent, I would go with 8hu5rust.
I tried that. I left it alone for about 30 minutes, and when I unpaused it had loaded another chunk. I guess its working, but it seems tedious. Just was wondering if this is caused by some kind of problem that can be fixed. I want to treat the disease, not the symptom.
Yah, I know exactly what you're going through. I had that exact same problem. But It was ok oh on some computers and it went away for the most part when I updated minecraft. For your case I'm not sure. I'm not too good with computers so the only thing i can subvert is try shutting down all the other programs except for minecraft so your computer can work faster or backing up all your saves and re downloading minecraft. I really wish I could help you more. I know how frustrating this is. I can only suggest trying different things and seeing what works best. What I would have to do is whenever I started seeing chunks not loading like that I would have to quit the world and join back in a few times before it stated working again.

ALL programs? That could harm the computer. There are some important tasks being used. I have ZoneAlarm Force Field running in the background, and if I was in order to kill that process, I can get serious problems.
No, of cource not. But stuff that touMe not currently using. Like it you were to have YouTube open along With Skype, Itunes and Minecraft you should shut down those type things.
I have a gaming computer capable of running crysis and crysis 2 at the same time. i don't think background programs are a problem. I've quit and rejoined the world many times, and that just made the problem worse (as in the chunks load even slower). I think backing up my saves and re-installing is the way to go, but I don't know how to do that.
Any advice on the subject? If I accidentally delete my world I am going to throw a grown man hissy fit, and nobody wants to see that.
