So like in the title, I recently bought and installed a graphics card. However, minecraft is still going the same frame rate as before. I upgraded from Geforce 210 to Geforce 650(not ti). My frames are from 15 - 20. My processor is fine with a sub score of 7.3 out for 7.9. If you must know it, it is an AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz.

Makes it sound like your system has an integrated graphics, if you are only using the dedicated card ( geforce 650) then all the memory should be available. So I would guess that minecraft is using the integrated graphics instead of the Geforce card.

Actually never mind on that. I found out that minecraft was holding optefine. So, I installed a new jar and now it is going 200 - 220 frames. Strange. I thought optefine was supposed to make minecraft faster.

When you use it correctly, it does. It has to be configured. It's dynamic, meaning you have to set it up to suit your needs.

Well yeah. You have to change them to make it better. So make sure that render is normal, if far is on and it makes your computer laggy, turn AA down or off if it lags, etc. Turn on Dynamic chunk loading, even maybe turn chunk loading to like 2 or something.

However, it was a clean optifine. When you install it, does come with settings that slow minecraft down if you don't activate them?
