I just updated my NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 moments ago and went to go play minecraft. I log in and everything is fine and I join the server I wanted to go on. When I joined I see my inventory, f3 menu, option menu, server text, rei's minimap, ect. all flickering on and off and its really bugging me.. Any suggestions? Fixes? I'm also running Windows 8, with 8GB RAM. before I updated my card Minecraft had trouble updating chunks and would leave world holes all over the place, I'm not sure if its fixed or not but If you know tell me.
Go into the Nvidia control panel and try turning off threaded optimization and see if that helps. Also if the card is overclocked you might try turning it down to see if the flicker goes away. Turning down the clocking might make it better if the power supply is minimal and not supplying enough power or if the card is overheating.
I see which is similar to yours and the guy just force updated his install. Seems like an odd fix for this problem though.

You might try updating your lwjgl to see if that helps (if you haven't done so already).

This sucks... I literally just got a new computer and everything -.- anyway i tried turning optimized off, still flickered, also tried the lwjgl and I got this error
*** MagicMinecraftLauncher 1.0.0 *** Disable inactive mods java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at magic.launcher.Launcher.main(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: org.lwjgl.DefaultSysImplementation.getPointerSize()I at org.lwjgl.DefaultSysImplementation.getPointerSize(Native Method) at org.lwjgl.Sys.<clinit>(Sys.java:113) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.F(SourceFile:1976) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.main(SourceFile:1564) ... 5 more
The only thing I found that works is going into full screan mode by pressing f11 or making it default but that's annoying and like
Flabaliki I like to record videos form time to time. Anyway that's for the help, but if there's anything thing you can think of or find out Please tell me
*Edit* Don't ask what happened with the font and stuff because I have no idea I'm a noob xD
*Edit* Also i havn't tried the overclocking thing and I don't know how to do that
I believe magic launcher updates lwjgl so you may have created a problem for it.
Mentioning that it only happens when playing in a window is a good clue. You may look into modifying the minecraft launcher properties so that DWM is disabled when it launches. I believe you do it by right clicking the launcher then under the properties > Compatibility tab there is an option to disable it there.
I just got the new Optifine and it told me to turn of threaded optimization so ill be keeping that off for now, also later I'm gonna try just taking the card out and placing it back in and see if it works
I have the same problem that you have on a computer that is nearly identical.I have Windows 8, 8 GB RAM, and I also have an NVIDIA Geforce GT 620 graphics card.I have tried everything suggested on this thread to no avail. All other games run smoothly with no graphical glitches, but MInecraft flickers just like the demonstration in your video.I would really like to see a fix for this, but I haven't been able to find much information.
EDIT:I changed some settings in optifine and the flickering gui stopped. While still changing settings I turned smooth FPS off and I noticed the flickering again. When smooth FPS is turned back on the game behaves normally with no flickering.I hope this works for you as well because this glitch was very annoying to deal with.

My dad talked to me about it a while ago, he said it could be that the Graphics card is too fast for Minecraft to handle? He also told me to smooth the FPS out meaning, cap it at 30 FPS, but this annoys me because my eyes are trained to see 30 FPS which to me I think is unusual, but for me it seems like its lagging.
Trying out the smooth FPS now...
The Smooth FPS seems to work I think my dad was right about the graphics card being too fast, and the Smooth FPS limits it.
*Edit* Thanks everyone for the help, just in case it starts to happen again I post in this thread but thanks
I still need help with the weird chunk updating problem though any ideas?
Did you mean turning off advanced openGL in the minecraft menu? Because you need OpenGL to run minecraft so your advice could be misunderstood.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
Also a couple minutes ago I allocated 4 GB of RAM unto Minecraft using the Minecraft Magic Launcher http://www.minecraft...s-options-news/

Run compatibility troubleshooter
Run this in compatibility mode for:
Reduced color mode
Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
and...
Run as administrator
