I'm experiencing lag that makes it impossible to play on multiplayer. Let me tell you what I have done and what I have ruled out.
I've ruled out graphics and CPU, the game runs fine on singleplayer without any lag whatsoever.
Java was using a lot of ram so I upgraded my ram to 8 GB. I'm running windows 7 64 bit so it does recognize all the installed Ram.
Internet connection- I have two computers in the same house that play minecraft. One of the computers has absolutlely no issues. Both computers are hardwired to the router.
I purchased system mechanic thinking that perhaps I had a virus, it found a few things so I decided to just wipe out the entire computer and do a destructive restore. No bugs, worms, trojans or etc.
I have went into task manager and given java a high priorioty. I have a quad core processor and all processors are set to run java.
In the game I have turned off clouds, render distance is tiny, graphics are set to fast, particles are set to minimium.
When the game first starts I can get 40-90 fps once I move it goes to around 30. After about 30 seconds it goes to 1-5 and will sometimes go to 0.
It's not the server either, I have a good connection to it and my other computer runs on the server without an issue. I've tried other servers and the results are the same.
The only thing I can think of is that the computer has an issue processing the incoming packets. However, during game play even when it's at 0 fps, only 20 percent of my processor is being used and around 20 percent of the physical memory.
Any thoughts on this?
