I'm going to be buying my own Minecraft account very soon (tomorrow hopefully!), 'cause my birthday is on the 8th of this month. I'll be 23, finally.
Anyway, my PC is on the old side, and I was wondering if I could run it well? I've played the free version (not the demo; can't use my account to play on the demo for some reason). I can post some specs here...
Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0 Build 6002)
AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 4450e (2 CPUs) ~2.3GHz
Memory: 2948 RAM
DirectX 11
Nvidia Geforce 6150SE nForce 430
I took that from my Dxdiag, just some basic info there. So am I able to run it in any form? The browser version I tried was slightly slow (I had to turn down the view distance and stuff) but it was smooth for the most part.
I heard that it was heavy on RAM, too, or something like that.
Well,I have a Windows XP with 1024MB RAM,and it goes very well... I think for singleplayer it will be fantastic ,but for making a server, maybe just a little bit more RAM ,and it will go very good
You can also play on LAN with 2948MB RAM, but it may lag a little bit
No computer can run Minecraft very, very well, as Java only utilizes 1 CPU core. Judging from your specs, you should be able to run it if you turn down the settings or even install Optifine. Yes it is RAM heavy, but all it really needs for single player is a maximum on 1gb RAM allocated.
More RAM allocated does not mean increased performance, it deteriorates it instead. Follow these speed optimization guides and see if they help.
Thank you guys for the responses! I plan to play multiplayer with my buddies when I do get it, so I'll probably do that Readyboost thing using my USB driver, and get Optifine.
I can't buy it online, because for some reason they aren't accepting registrations from residents of Illinois (o.o?). So I'll have to find another way to purchase it.

Any tips or things are appreciated. Thanks!
