Yes you can! I have a x64 Windows 7 Home Ultimate Notebook computer, and it rus just fine.
Go for it. Just install JAVA for x64, it greatly improves performance.

Timmi - assuming you have enough ram, yes you can run it. - that system (technologywise) is very similar to the one I was using to record my minecraft footage before I had a harddrive failure ( mine was Athlon 64 X2 4600+, 2 gig ram, GeForce 8500 GT 512 mb ). It runs minecraft smoothly at 25-40 fps, though you can boost that up into the 40-60 fps range using things such as Optifine and/or Magic Launcher (had more success with magic launcher and controlling the ram usage)
