Hey ever since I reinstalled W7 I have been having this same problem. 1. Even though my windows is 64bit i tried java 32 bit. This worked and was playable but the game crashed when the game overloads. (This is normal for 64 bit users) 2. I have also tried 64 bit java which works but i have a 1 second lag every 3-8 seconds. Its the same timing and on all rendering and graphics.
This Has happened on both my computers which are both 64 bit. _____________________ All my drivers are updated. and YES i have Allocated 6 gigs of ram. System Specs: Windows 7 64 bit 8gb ram Intel i7 3.5 GHz Nividia GTX 680
Allocating too much RAM will deteriorate performance instead.
What I can suggest is updating LWJGL, and maybe reinstall Java and Minecraft too. http://www.minecraft...ls/Update_LWJGL
This would be the infamous Lag Spike of Death that strikes everyone, no matter how epic their PC is.
Minecraft is one messy-coded game, and runs on a single core. Basically Minecraft reads and writes to your Hard Disk and during these will cause a spike in the games performance. To be honest, an overpowered Minecraft is a nightmare, too much memory is bad and in most cases - will never use it all.
There is no single answer to this, but many people claim to fix this using mods like Optifine (a performance boosting mod), using a Solid State instead of a Spindle Drive to lessen the time it takes for Minecraft to write chunk data and read it, using Java 7, update LWJGL, or use Minecrafts in-built Framerate limiter.
One way of getting around this is to run a Dedicated Server, bind the ip to 127.0.0.1 (so only YOU can play it), and then connect to it using your Client. This way the server will be writing and reading to your Hard Disk while your client will receiving all chunk data from the Server, all being processed separately.
But still, this is the most common problem ever in Minecraft. The low-end PCs tend to get around this though (but they have such bad FPS already ).
1. Updating LWJGL didnt work 2. I reinstalled MC and Java more times than i can count 3. I got an 500 r/w SSD 4. tryed lowering ram to 4000mb did not help. 5. Optifine didnt work either.

This is an auto updater for LWJGL if you're not too sure how.
