Up until just a few days ago i could run minecraft at 90-130 fps just fine and smoothly with normal render distance and fancy graphics. then it just started randomly going from a smooth 90-130 fps to 1-50 fps at random or whenever i hit a block or was just walking around my world. This made me think my survival world was corrupt but no other world works right either. Every other game on my computer runs just fine and i have tried force updating and optifine but still no change. Could someone please help because i really want to get back to playing minecraft without problems.

Hey Rock, Have you added any mods/clients to you're minecraft?
Usually the issue lays with in a mod/client, Or get the latest drivers from the manufactures website.

No mods currently installed. I tried optfine but the problem is with vanilla and everything is up to date.
I think it is the smooth lighting option. The new system has been changed in smooth lighting that affects many computers. I used to get 60-100+ fps with maxed out options, but now I get anywhere from 20-60 fps. If I take off the smooth lighting, I revert back to normal fps, but still with stutters. Optifine helps with stuttering, but the fps is still low. If you're running windows, you should install fps fixer (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1720059-15-fps-fixer-01/) Since I'm running mac, I can't do so. I hope I helped.
