Hi, so I've played Minecraft on this computer before, and then some Tekkit Minecraft, now I'm going back to play normal Minecraft with some friends of mine.
My problem is that I get the error "Can't connect to Minecraft.net" and then the options to retry or play offline, when I try to log in. (Note: This is the downloaded version of Minecraft)
Now, I checked the servers, they are up (My friends are currently playing, so duh). I checked my Java (Version 7 Update 10), I checked my anti-virus and firewall (even turned it all off just to check). I googled the issue and checked a few of the things that had helped others; mainly the same as above, and some stuff about the computer clock being off (my clock is correct).
I gave up on trying to figure it out at this point, and just used the Web Browser version of Minecraft (currently using Firefox), and this worked hafly fine. I could connect to minecraft, connect to the server my friends are playing on, but if I tried to destroy a block; my game menu popped up, all the time, which made it too annoying to play.
So I'm looking for a fix for either of these two problems, I just want to play Minecraft.
I'm having the same general issue, except I can play minecraft on my desktop, but not my laptop, and I can't play minecraft in the browser at all, I've also tried all the above solutions, none of them work for me...
Yes I've had it since alpha, I just got a gaming laptop for Christmas, and wanted to put minecraft on here, I thought it would work because if I sign in to my account on my friends computer it works just fine, but not on this laptop and this laptop only.(This is the only game that I'm having this kind of problem on this laptop)
System Model: HP ENVY 6 Notebook PC
BIOS: InsydeH2O Version CCB.03.72.09F.04
Processor: AMD A6-4455M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 7500G
Those are the basic specs
I have tried deleting minecraft entirely (the .minecraft thing in the appdata).
Also, my windows firewall is shut down. The firewall I'm using is the one that comes with ESET Smart Security, which I have disabled just to try it, but it made no difference.

Yeah, sorry about getting off topic.
Try running Magic Launcher. If it connects, then we know it's a problem with the regular launcher. If not, then we can delve deeper into the problem.
Again, sorry for becoming off topic.

Nope, doesn't work for me....
But it's been like this for a week for me...and only on this laptop, it works fine everywhere else.
Check to see if your laptop has internet. Try disabling any proxies or firewalls and see if that helps.
Have internet, disabling proxies/firewalls doesn't work...

Retired StaffI've already seen that thread, none of those solutions helped me in the slightest.
Yup, I can play any other game I please, and I have tried it on other internet connections, and it still didn't work.
I also know it works on this kind of laptop, for my brother has the exact same kind, and can log into my account there...
Something's wrong with your laptop then. Try resetting your internet/firewall settings.
