I recently rebuilt my computer with new parts. I downloaded Minecraft and i get this message when i try to update it: Fatal error occured (4): Connection Reset I added minecraft to the programs allowed in Windows Firewall I turned off my Firewall and my Anti-Virus (Microsoft Security Essentials) but that did not work. The Tekkit launcher is not working either. I get a message saying "error" i tried the following steps shown above but still nothing. Please Help. BTW I have a C drive (SSD for Windows OS) and a D Drive (HDD for Games and everything else).
its possible that your DNS records for session.minecraft.net have not been updated yet, you could try going into command prompt and typing "/ipconfig /flushdns" and then see if that fixed the connection issue.
Hope that helps
GAH, I'VE POSTED IN THE WRONG THREAD!
Ignore the above text. Sorry.
Listen to the below text. 1) Back up your saves! 2) Uninstall Java from add/remove programs 3) Delete the Java folder from /program files folder 4) Delete the /.minecraft folder 5) Delete the minecraft.exe 6) Reinstall Java and get 64bit Java as well, if you have a 64bit OS 7) Download the minecraft.exe from minecraft.net 8) Run minecraft.exe and let it download all the files, and run without mods, textures, and try to create a new world
