Yes, the minute I get Minecraft running I encounter a problem. I tried to get some wood to build a pickaxe, and I found that clicking made the game pause. Yes, clicking. Either mouse button. What the heck is wrong?

More info about your system would be nice. For all we could know you're trying to play on a Commodore 64.

Is this a laptop or desktop system? What OS are you running?

A netbook. A Gateway LT4004u. An Intel Atom N2600. Running under Java SE 6. Is that bad? Oh, and running Xubuntu 12.04.

have you checked your controls? i can't think of any other way it would do that... very strange.

Thanks to another member who had the same issue he found out that Java 7 is causing this problem. If you uninstall it and leave the last version of Java 6 update 31 I believe it is, it will were perfectly fine. I did just that and had no issues,

Now go fix it and enjoy the game

NOTE: The problem doesn't lie with mining itself, but with the mouse buttons. Will this help diagnose? I intend to use an alternate mouse as soon as possible, but until then, I need more ideas. I am using Java 6, and the controls are fine, there is no way to control the menu button. I used an obscure control scheme and mining worked fine.

It's not your mouse it's java 7 like I said. I used both my external mouse and laptop mouse and they both had the same problem while playing with Java 7. However when I uninstalled Java 7 and just left java 6 both worked fine. For some reason breaking blocks won't work with it, now I don't know if it's with certain computers that this happens or what because I'm sure not everyone had this problem.

And like I said, I AM NOT USING JAVA 7.

Since you're running Xubuntu I suggest that you might try updating your lwjgl if you haven't already.

Also is it possible your touchpad if you have one is causing interference?

I'm afraid I can't run Terminal commands. More like, "I'm afraid. I can't run Terminal commands." I considered a USB mouse but I don't have one handy. Or at all, for that matter. This is really impossible to fix unless I learn C++, Perl and Python, correct?
