I purchased Minecraft for my son on the iPad, with great success. He has been fanatical watching MC movies on my laptop, so while I couldn't vew the demo, I still moved forward with downloading the $27 application, to no avail. I have tried it on both Macinstosh cupters, which meet the hardware specifications, updated my Java and cannot get the application (which only dowloads as v1.0) to launch as the prompt informs me that the file was damaged during download and should be moved to trash. Additionally the Demo defaults to a "crash" prompt.
Any assistance would be appreciated towards a resolve or refund.
Thank youExact quote = "Minecraft.app" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash.
This is the errror report when I attempt to run the demo.

This seems worth posting for Mac users: Go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General, and change "Allow applications downloaded from" to "Anywhere" then try the install again; after the install, the setting can be (and probably should be) changed back to whatever it was originally.
