So I bought minecraft with my sister so we could play together and we've been running into issues with the lan connection stuff. We are both updated to 1.4.6 and from what I've read elsewhere our Java is upto date as well. We're connected into the same router, Although I am on a desktop and she is on her laptop. We are both at windows 7. The chatbox reads: local game hosted on 0.0.0.0:57883, from what I've gathered this is where the issue is with. Could anyone help us with this? We bought the game in hopes of having some fun on Christmas day, but as it seems it won't happen right now.
I'm guessing that both the computers are connected to the same LAN. And you are connected to minecraft.net.
They were while were trying earlier, now she's on wireless and I'm connected to the router. As I mentioned, we'd both purchased the game game and were connected.
You didn't say it, so I'm going to assume that your sister's computer did not show any LAN games available?
The 0.0.0.0 on your machine is not the issue, it is merely a misleading log message.
Your computer firewall could be blocking the advertisement.
Your router could be blocking the advertisement.
Your sister's firewall could be blocking the advertisement.
Both computer's should have the network set up as a "Home" network, which blocks less traffic by default.
You should verify that your router is not configured to in such a way that traffic is blocked between wired and wireless clients.

The weird thing was that she could she mine game and attempt to connect and get shutdown; rejected, But I could never see hers. He went through our firewalls and added minecraft to the allowing areas, and I'll have to talk to my step father about the last part and see if he can help with that part.
