I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what to do with this...
I've just installed Java (didn't have it at all before, so installed the newest version from java.com) and downloaded the launcher and used a prepaid card (gifted to us for Christmas) to make an account for Minecraft.
After running the launcher, it updates, turns black, then dissapears. No evidence in the task manager that it is running in the background, and an error log appears on the desktop:

Any assistance with this would be appreciated. I see that there have been other people with similar problems but I don't see any posts with actual resolutions posted -- or at least, no resolution that I can understand or follow apparently.
I'm going to sound dumb asking this, but how can you tell based on that snippet of error?
I'm downloading the driver AMD suggests now... a Radeon HD 4xxx Series PCIe driver (I think the specific model number is 4350) but I'm pretty sure I did this three weeks ago when we installed Sims 3. LOL
I'll post again after the install completes and I have rebooted.
Updated and the game plays, although I now get errors at boot (looks like a problem with the catalyst control center -- another update for another day from what I can tell). :-/ Everything else seems fine and Minecraft is playing. I guess the drivers were just so badly in need of update three weeks ago that I had to do more than one update to get to the most recent driver?
Who knows. Thanks for the push in the right direction.

atioglxx.dll
this is usually a DLL file that causes problems for minecraft users. It has the openGL stuff in it.
I have alot of trouble updating drives with CCC too. Try just completely uninstalling them, and reinstalling the newest one. I'm usually pretty wary of installing new updates.

Retired StaffYou need to update your graphics drivers.
