I have a weird nonfatal error in Minecraft that has happened pretty much since I got my laptop (Asus i7 proc, Win7 Pro 64-bit, nVidia 540m, Intel HD Graphics, latest version of Java 64-bit, latest fresh clean unmodded Minecraft install), so it has been going on for about a year...
I run Minecraft on the NVidia 540m, and I get terrific framerates, the graphics look awesome, and control is spot-on. But after playing for a while, sometimes the game blanks out where I can see my Windows desktop for about a quarter-second, then it goes back to Minecraft as if nothing had happened. I can be whacking a Creeper with a porkchop and the graphics glitch at mid-swing, my Windows desktop appears for a split second, then I see the porkchop connect with the Creeper's face with a satisfying 'thwunk'. So it doesn't crash the game, it just sometimes makes the controls flake out during the graphics glitch because I might dig a hole three-deep and accidently whack a chest full of goodies during the hiccup.
Any ideas why this is happening, and how to fix it? I think Java is flushing something, and the glitch occurs whether I launch from my custom batch file (gives Java plenty of RAM and ample opportunity to recycle resources and prevents 'drops to 0.5fps' error) or if I launch from minecraft.exe. The graphics hiccup happens at completely random times, sometimes 5 minutes into a game and sometimes 30 minutes. This has happened since I got my laptop a year ago, and I've updated my graphics drivers, Java, and Minecraft when the updates are available. Any ideas how to clear up this problem?
Thanks in advance for the help!
