First off let me start by explaining that I spent about half an hour searching the forums for this thread, and I know I'm not the only one with this problem but I feel like it should be adressed in case someone has figured out a way to fix it.
This is a graphics bug based around minecraft shading I have found in both default and modded minecraft clients. It's been going since about 1.0 or so and it still has yet to be fixed. Here are some images of the issue in my client.
Java Version: "1.7.0_07" (Latest as of Post) 64-bit
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series (5450)
Driver Version: 9.2.0.0
Driver Model: WDDM 1.1
If anyone has any information like some sort of setting on my card that could be causing these weird graphical artifacts I'd really appreciate any kind of suggestions.
NOTE: When I loaded the new minecraft into a new clean server and started up with a fresh install of minecraft, the errors were nonexistent. I changed only three settings, mouse sensitivity, sound volume and perhaps most importantly, I changed the lighting setting from "smooth" to brightest. So I could see in the dark like I'm sure most everyone else already does. After the settings were changed the errors started popping up again. I changed the settings back just in case that would fix the ordeal (darkness way preferred over these weird annoying glitches) and it did not work. Perhaps because I had already loaded the chunks that way?
looks like standard minecraft lighting bugs to me, do they go away if you move close or place a block there?
dinnerbone is trying to fix this bug
I figured as much.. I was just hoping that someone would have a way to get rid of it with a setting or a mod setting in optifine or something. dinnerbone really needs to hurry up, this has been going on for wayyy too long imo.. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to focus on one of the singlemost common bugs there is and fix it in an update.
dinnerbone did have a fix, but found it caused the nether to lag so much it wasn't playable, i think he's pretty much rewriting the lighting engine to fix the issue
