All my games on my laptop are running fine (Civ 5, Skyrim), I can even run them at high settings. But when I go on minecraft my fps fluxuates between 5 and 52 fps! I tried different settings and nothing improved. Why is Minecraft being so laggy?

AMD A8-3520m APU (1.6-2.5ghz)
AMD Radeon 7770m 1gb
8gb of RAM @1600mhz
5400 RPM 750GB hdd

what you could try is adding a mod called optifine to your client, this will give you many many options to adjust and tweek untill you get the best settings for your computer
This is because Minecraft is a Java game, plus it uses a lot of resources.
There are a thousand threads on this subject, but the first thing to do is download and try OptiFine. Then expect to spend the next year or so asking questions about how to tweak settings to improve frame rate.
Coding MC in Java to begin with was a bad idea, which many have pointed out. But it is what it is, and we're stuck with it.
As Tedster indicated, be sure to have Java and Minecraft assigned to your Radeon. You should be able to do this through the Radeon's control panel, by controlling the applications assigned to it. That may help.
