I have a problem with my main minecraft single player savegame since last week. When I try to load my save, the loading bar gets stucked on "Downloading Terrain" and then crashes or just loads indefinitely... Nothing was updated or modified before the problem. I've googled that issue but the only info I find on this problem is concerning network issues in a multiplayer scenario, which is not the case here. I've tried to import my save on a friend's PC but I still get the same problem. If I try to create a new game, everything is working fine though... My java is up to date and I'm running Minecraft's latest version.
Is there anything I could try to get my world back?
have you suffered a crash or power cut while playing the map at all?
its possible the map has gotten a little corrupt.
i normally suggest using mcedit to open the world and have a look for any chunks that look miising or incorrect. or a mass or entities in an area.
they can be fixed, and also move the player position to a different spot or over to the spawn
Thank you for your answer, I tried opening my world in MCEdit but wasn't able to clearly see any "missing blocks" anywhere... Everything looked in place... I tried changing the spawn point, saved and tried it again but I still get the same loading error. Only one thing is actually catching my attention in MCEdit: when I click on "locate player" (or something like that), nothing happens... I don't know if it can have anything to do with the problem...
Select an area around your current spawn point. Copy and paste that into a new world (just a testing world.) Don't worry if you only copy portions of your constructs, just be sure to include your spawn point.
See if the problem occurs in the new world, and report back. You can delete the test world afterwards.
I am having this problem too. Except, even if I make a new world, it still happens. Every single one of my worlds will not open.
Your issue is likely due to your PC not being able to handle the 1.5 updates heavy load when you open a world. What are your computer specs, also OS & Java?
