ok. so i logged on to minecraft today and walked over to where i had built my house and when i got there, my house looked like someone took a giant knife and cut it in half, half of my house was there and everything past half way through my house was gone. i have no idea what happened and it was not a chunk error because i logged off and closed minecraft and logged back in and my house was still half gone and i started rebuilding it. does anyone know what happened? because i really dont want to rebuild everything over again and have this happen again
i took a screenshot but im not sure how to post it, i didnt see a insert option for the post btw the screenshot was taken about 5 mins after i already started re building so i fixed a little but most of the damage is still there
Something similar happened to me today. Half my house is gone, replaced with part of a nearby hillside. I had it all cleared back from the house several blocks and had some stairs and a pathway, which are gone. Half of my portal too.
Posted a pic (not sure which of these will work.. so here's several links)
Huh. Seems like the world decided to regenerate itself in both cases, probably due to a corrupt save.

Christianity in a nutshell: We have all sinned, so we deserve eternity in hell. But God (God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit) loved us so much he sent His Son to die for us, to take the punishment meant for us. All we need to do is accept it, and we have heaven headed our way.
I have had the same problem... not a completely missing chunk, but a chunk where most of the blocks -- but not all -- are gone.
Very frustrating. There's no workaround, either.
The only thing to do is download an auto-save program (I use Minecraft Backup Assistant) and save like mad. Then when this happens, you can find a previous save where the area was OK, and use MCEdit to copy and paste the corrupted area back into your world.
It's painfully slow, but it's the only way to correct this.
Error 404. Picture is not available.
Anyways, what it sounds like is that it's from lack of C disk space, it's not able to save that half. How much C disk space do you have? You should have at least 200+GB of C disk space.

Thanks for the suggestions! From what I've read, MC is pretty aggressive when it comes to auto saves ... so I'm not sure if I can revert or not but I'll try. If not, at least I can be ready for next time!
