Ok so I recently built a computer with my brother (it was mostly my brother I don't know crap) and it runs windows 8 and I downloaded the Minecraft client and opened it, it worked fine I mostly play on multiplayer servers. one day I opened it after school it worked but when I took a break and came back to playing I tried to open the minecraft client but it did not open, not even to the login screen the security warning type of thing asked me if I wanted to run or cancel the program I clicked run nothing happend. Anybody know what my problem may be?
ok thanks for trying thoughI just realized something. it opens up under background processes in task manager when I click the icon. Do you know I can make this not a background process?
What exactly do you mean by results? It opened when I used the minecrafterrortest and it shows as the java logo in my taskbar instead of the minecraft logo, but it still didn't work with the icon
Pretty sure it's because you're running windows 8, windows 8 has sort of a system like macs where a lot of programs have to be 'approved'. Or at least I think that's how it works.
I am having this exact same problem. I have windows 7 64 bit and have been playing minecraft for over a year without any problems like this til now. All of a sudden the applet does not want to open. I have tried all the steps ive seen here and produced the EXACT same result. The first time i ran the test it opened. the second time it did not and here are MY results.

Moderatortry reinstalling java 64 bit.
if it still says java 32 is loading try uninstalling all the java's and install the 64 bit one
did the command prompt open when you ran the error test?
Must of been something with Java v7u9. So Hiddling I would check out what version you got.
