I cannot get MC to install on my laptop now for some reason. After a full game sweep, I login for the first time & after hitting enter, get the New update available screen. If I hit Not now I get an Updating Minecraft window and it says Done loading, but the green bar never quiiiite goes all the way to the right/locks up. If I start over but choose Yes on the New update available prompt, it says Updating Minecraft, but this time the green bar only goes a small portion of the way across & locks up while saying Downloading packages. I'm getting ready for an extended holiday trip & won't likely have internet access there , so I'd like to remedy this before the weekend if at all possible. As always, thanks in advance! (the laptop's running Win7 Home Premium 64x & has 64x Java installed)
hit enter then open the .minecraft folder, clear out everything but the saves folder (this can be deleted too if you don't have a world to save from deletion)
I've already done such & since I've got my saves backed up, I've wiped them/everything too. Going into the .minecraft folder only shows three files.. the bin folder, lastlogin file, and if I click on the bin folder it's got the version file. Nothing else is installing and if I wipe it all again, I'm stuck in the same loop.
I'm running it from the desktop, though just tried from within the roaming folder, as admin in both locations, to no avail. Checking thread. Man is this frustrating!!
Well that thread wasn't helpful either. I mean, I'm having no problem downloading the launcher, it simply won't install. (with all security and/or firewall stuff disabled) Also, nothing was wrong with my hosts file etc. I guess it's time to go post over there..
