Okay so I bought MineCraft today because i wanted to play online with some friends but it won't allow me to go online to the server. I have typed in the correct Ip address and I know that it works because several of my friends are currently online playing. Could this be a security problem, like my software won't allow me to go online or something, and if so how do i fix it?

It's possible it could be a secuirty issue. Do you have a Firewall or IP blocker like Peerblock installed and running? If so, check those setting to make sure the IP is allowed through.
When you save a new server, does it say it's online?

No it doesn't say online. And as far as i can remember i don't have an IP blocker. I only have kaspersky as a security system
