Every time i open minecraft it lets me go and log into a server and then my screen goes dark and then it crashes. this same thing happens with single player worlds. I am on mac.

It's your texture pack. Minecraft currently only supports 16x16(x16) texture packs. To get anything higher to work you need to mod Minecraft with a HD texture patcher, such as OptiFine.
