Help needed - Login errors

I have been trying to run mincraft via the .exe download file, but consistently get a "Login Failed" message. I have a valid Mojang account, so i know the password works and have reset it once to try that route.

Does anyone have any idea on what could be causing this? How can I fix it?

Do you have any external programs that monitor internet usage, like a firewall or peerblock?

yes, Norton Family is running.

I also tried adding a rule in firewall to allow access.
