I have been trying to downgrade from minecraft 1.4.5 to minecraft 1.2.5 so I can use the old weeping angels mod which hasn't been updated since 1.2.5
However, not only can I not find a version of modloader that works for 1.2.5 , the unmodded jar has problems.

If I try to access single player using the 1.2.5 jar without ANY mods, or modifications etc. installed, I get a blank screen and the game soon crashes without any report being saved in the crash reports folder.

I assume this is because the rest of my files are all from 1.4.5 , only the .jar file is from 1.2.5

But I can't find the necessary files anywhere

Is there any way I can fix this problem?

Have you tried using MCnostalgia (I.E. are you using an original 1.2.5 .jar?, or one you rolled back?)

I haven't tried that yet, I'll give it a shot.

Other things to note:

I'm doing this on a mac ( os x lion)

and this is an old 1.2.5 jar I've had for a while since 1.2.5 was new

download minecraft 1.2.5 from here: http://www.mojang.com/2012/03/minecraft-1-2-5-prerelease/

its completely legal and the shocking thing is that it is the EXACT same jar as the official one. i have installed over 30 mods on it before and it worked so there is no reason for it not to work for 1 mod.

but is there a version of modloader for 1.2.5 that works?

I'm going to test out the jar and if it works, all good, but if it doesn't I guess it's incompatible with 1.4.5 files

Ok I downloaded the A1 1.2.5 modloader but it hasn't worked and minecraft wouldn't start up.

And the .jar is not compatible with the 1.4.5 files: singleplayer doesn't work.

you can always try multimc, it has mcnostalgia built in, and will make it a lil easier to add modloader

1.2.5 jar is not compatible with the 1.4.5 files BESIDES the jar that are in the bin. I fixed this by finding a really lucky backup of my 1.3.2 bin and putting the 1.2.5 jar in there.

Modloader still not working.

Do you have any features from 1.4.5 in the singleplayer worlds you wanted to go into? If you did, that's the problem.

My saves folder is empty.

I'm guessing that the world you generated was trying to add features from 1.4.5. Then it crashed and it didn't save. I have a mod and Forge, and before there was a conflict with MCPatcher and Forge, crashing when Minecraft detects an entity. Even though I made new worlds, it still added mobs. So the same thing that was happening with me is probably happening to you.

Hey. I just checked through my old minecraft backups and found modloader 1.2.5. I'm hoping this will be the right modloader version. Also, as Hidinginthelight said, you could also try forge. But anyways heres the link.

i tried it so i can use the aether mod but it just upgrades it back to 1.4.7i dont know whats wrong with minecraft
