Hi, I'm new to these forums, so I thought my first post should be why I even made an account here.
Over the past 6 months my Minecraft has been crashing on my laptop on an average of 30 seconds after opening it.
. . .
I've redownloaded Minecraft a number of times, each time deleting the my entire .minecraft file in Roaming. Really I gave up on playing Minecraft completely until my friend bought it recently, and I have to compete with my screen freezing for up to 10 seconds before my Minecraft window turns blank and I'm given back control of my laptop, then having to open up Task Manager because nothing else can get rid of it. If I don't close Minecraft this way it stays this way as long as my computer is turned on. It is very hard to achieve anything on Minecraft in 30 seconds before getting kicked off of it.
Please help me to solve this problem and allow me to play this awesome game.
I have a 64-bit operating system, but I'm not quite sure how to check my Java. Do you know how I could find out?
Well, if you have Firefox, you can go to the URL bar and type in about:home and then it should take you to the home page. Then click on the Add-ons button. That should tell you all your add-ons. One of your add-ons is Java, so look for one that says Java on it and tell us the Java version.
One of the plugins is called "Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U37 6.0.370.6", and another says "Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.370.6 6.0.370.6".
Does that tell you anything?
