I purchased a new Dell 15R laptop, downloaded and installed the latest versions of Java and Minecraft (no mods, etc.). After a brand new world is loaded, my character is constantly jumping, but not full jumps. Its as if he is shaking up and down continuously. If I try to move (WASD), movement is extremely slow, or not at all. I can use the trackpad to look around normally, and can smash blocks. The game is unusable.
I tried a number of fixes (altering video settings, updating drivers, 64 bit java, updating LWJGL), none of which worked. I also tried Dell tech support, who claimed that Windows 8 and Minecraft weren't compatible. I returned the laptop.
I then purchased a new Acer laptop with Windows 7, downloaded and installed the lastest versions of Java and Minecraft (no mods, etc.). SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS BEFORE.
I've tried searching for a similar problem (and solution) in these forums and google with no real luck (found this thread, but no viable solution).
With the Acer, I tried using a wireless USB mouse. Now, when I start in a new world, I still start with the constant shaking, but if I can move just a little, or smash the block below me so I drop down one block, it stops and I can play normally.
What's really throwing me is that my 4 year old Macbook and my 8 year old Dell Inspiron laptop both run Minecraft (latest version) without this issue (the framerates are certainly a bit lacking...).
I'd really like to play with the trackpad (it's tough to play on the couch with a wireless mouse). Both laptops were using a Synaptics trackpad/touchpad. They're also both "multitouch" (my older laptops are not). Could this be the issue? I did try altering many of the settings in the trackpad control panel without luck, but perhaps I didn't hit the right one.
Anyone else had this issue? I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one!
to rule out the trackpad i would say plug in your usb mouse, then go into the device manager page and disable the pad, that way only the usb mouse will be controlling minecraft,if the issue goes away then the pad maybe the problem
but if the issue persists its not the pad and i'm lost for more ideas on how to fix
I have the same problem on my PC i can say that it is not the touch pad
If i play a previously created world before the holloween update it plays fine but if i create a new world it gets "jumpy" happy

Oh really? Are your new worlds basically unplayable? Or were you able to find a solution?
I'm not sure what a link will help, either it is what you're encountering and our suggestion will work for you, or it's not your issue and it won't work.

True, but I'd like to understand what I'm dealing with. from the page you provided is exactly what's happening.
I'm on an iPhone now...don't have the full editor.
I checked on my Acer laptop: breaking the block below me frees my character, so that's the bug. Frustrating though, almost every new world I create has this problem (9 of 10).
Now I've got a new problem: I can't look with the touchpad while holding a movement key. I've tried disabling the "palmcheck" feature, messing with sensitivity, etc. without luck. It's not just in minecraft, if I hold a key down, the touchpad is disabled for a few seconds. It's a synaptics one. Tried updating the driver, no luck their either. Any ideas?

Is there an option "disable touchpad while typing" somewhere perhaps? If neither of those work then I don't know of any other solutions sorry. Glad you found a solution to your original issue.

Yah, that's exactly what I was looking for, but couldn't find it. I even poked around in RegEdit a bit. Thanks for the help.
Hmmm... I'll try it again:

You spawned in a corrupt chunk. Break the block you're in.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..

Oh right, it could be the stuck in block issue when you first spawn in 1.4.5. I hadn't even thought of that because his story was so roundabout.
Yeah just look down and break the block you're on.

Any links to more info on this problem? I've been googling but I can find much about it.
https://mojang.atlas.../browse/MC-2787
https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-2089
While those reports are shown as resolved that is only because they were considered as duplicates of this report:

I'll try block breaking tonight.
Thanks!
