I have a Google chromebook that does not support Java. To access Minecraft on it, I will have to root it. Is there any future for Minecraft on the Google Chromebook or will I have to continue using my Macbook?

There's no way to root a Chromebook, because you can already run commands as root when you turn on developer mode...
It's fairly easy to install Java on a Chromebook (I've got the Samsung ARM one), and the only reason that I can't run Minecraft on it is because when using Ubuntu on it, there's no graphics card drivers. Eventually, Google will release them, and you could play Minecraft on it (in theory).
