Why Wont My Minecraft Launcher open

Ok so when i try to open my minecraft launcher on the family laptop it does not open. And i downloaded it 5 times now and it still does not work and i deleted my .minecraft but still did not work

does the computer say anything when you run the launcher?
are you running the exe or jar, and what os?

The os was windows vista and it was runing under exe and no it does not say any thing when i open it it just loads for 1 second than stops

This same thing is happenint to me but im running windows7. maybe if you update your driver or windows it will work

Vista isn't the greatest operating system. Try the jar version of the launcher.
