Since I'm quite new to Minecraft, my brother started a server for us to play on; it's being run from his computer. My laptop's got Windows 2000 on it, and 32-bit, I think. I tried to change my render distance to Far, but got the red text saying my computer couldn't support it. Then my computer got the blue screen and crashed. The problem is, I can't log in to change the setting. I don't even want the RD on Far, just Normal; I only want to see the sun. Already tried changing the setting in Single Player, forcing an update, and redownloading Minecraft, with no dice. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Its not the version of Java that's making problems; its whether or not its 32bit or 64bit, and I'm pretty sure that a 12 year old operating system can not run 64bit java.

yes.
I think 0 = far, 1 = normal, 2 = small, and 3 = tiny.

It says the view distance is 0. (I assume you wanted me to type that into Run.)

Oh, awesome! Made the change, going to try again.
That did the trick! Thank you so much for your help!
