Hello,
I downloaded Minecraft for Xbox and am loving it even though it is only a fraction as cool as the PC version. I want to put it on my computer, which at the time was great, but is now very very very old (in computer years). Here are specs, most things look like it is more than good enough, but I am worried about my old video card. I have gotten games in the past that my video card made unplayable. Is what I have going to work? If not, what do I need to change and how much will it costs. Thanks. (Also, will I be able to use some of the mods like Tekkit? What about HD texture packs?)
OS: Windows XP
Processor: Intel Xeon CPU [email protected] 2.00 GHz (Four of them it looks like?)
RAM: 1.99 GB of RAM
Hard Drive: 1 with 236GB free and the other with 931 GB Video: Diamond S9250 PCI 256 DDR
try the demo out first, that should tell you if it can run or not.
i'm guessing the answer will be not due to the video card http://www.diamondmm...s9250pci256.php
according to that page the card is opengl 1.3, you need 1.4 for minecraft
a better newer card will most likely be needed
tekkit is very outdated now, it uses 1.2.5, minecraft is on 1.4.5 now, i'd suggest if/when you sort out a better graphics card i'd lok into FTB (feed the beast) which is like tekkit but better and newer and supported by the guys who made the mods.
but saying that you may run into RAM issues depending on how much free RAM you have, mods like those used in tekkit and FTB are pretty resource heavy.
texture pack not sure, but they are very easy to swap around and play with testing
