I'm new to the Minecraft community and played it only once or twice and now I can't get it to load.
When I double click the launcher it causes my computer severe lag for a length of time then the launcher appears for a split second but it's clear then a java icon appears in the task bar, if I mouse over it it says Minecraft Launcher, if I click on it or close everything else nothing comes up. It doesn't say not responding in the task manager. It just sits there. The whole time I've been working on this post that icon has been just sitting in my task bar. Nothing going on, no lag, just sitting.
I looked around on here and tried the suggestions for crashes and the like. I tried adding more memory to Java, I tried uninstalling all instances of Java and reinstalling, I tried installing 64 bit Java, I tried deleting /.minecraft folder and redownloading, it does the same thing EVERY time.
My computer's stats:
Windows 7 64 bit
4 GB ram
AMD Athlon Dual Core 2.30 ghz processor
Brand new GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 video card
Java 64 bit installed fresh
All help is appreciated, and FYI I'm considerably good with computers so feel free to get technical.
Try running this error testing tool , post the log here and lets see how far it gets on a test launch and any red flags it may find.
Oddly enough, that made it load without any issues. Here's the log, I loaded one of my saves for a sec and it worked.

So your launcher won't launch the game but that script does? Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of the launcher from minecraft.net and using it?
Also why does your first test report show you have Windows7 32bit and 32bit java and the second two reports show both are 64bit? Are you switching between dual installs?
They show differently I'm assuming because I have both versions of java installed (32 and 64). I've also tried just 64 and just 32. Nothing works.
Interesting, I didn't think it would do that.
There have been other people who have had trouble launching and switching to a 3rd party launcher like MultiMC worked for them. I think this would probably work for you since the script launches minecraft for you. Not sure why this works however.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
Oddly enough, that made it load without any issues. Here's the log, I loaded one of my saves for a sec and it worked.
