Walking Sounds and Mining Sounds Not There

I have had this issue ever since Mac OS X Lion came out where I can not hear when I walk on any blocks. Also I can BARELY hear any sound when I mine anything in stone or just stone itself. When I try to break dirt or walk in water or open and close chests and doors the sounds work perfectly.

Anyone have suggestion for fixes?

You might try updating your lwjgl and see if that helps. I have zero Mac experience so can't really suggest anything more.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
