I have a friend that has a copy of Minecraft and loves to play it. In fact he thinks its the best game out there and ran it on his 3 year old computer that had above recommended requirements. He recently got a new computer that was an upgrade from his last by two fold and cost his a pretty penny. This new computer of his runs windows 8 and to be honest he was not to happy with the OS at first but it grew on him. He reinstalled Minecraft a few days ago and although it runs it lagged so much that he could not craft even an axe without a good 30 seconds or so. I did a lot of searching around and tried to fix the problem for him but stumbled upon a website that says the creator of Minecraft would not certify the game to windows 8. I thought this may be the reason that the game will not run well for him but something just does not settle right with me. I want to say that this is not the issue because I could find no further information regarding the topic and here I am reaching out to the Minecraft community on his behalf. First off I want to know if this is the right way the game should act up if having the wrong OS is the problem. Second I want to know if anyone else has had a similar issue. Third I want know if there is anyway to fix it, and lastly why does the creator not certify the game to windows 8? Thank you guys in advance for your time
He ran windows 7 with 4GB ram and an intel core i3 2.6Ghz processor and the game ran smoothly. Now he has a Dell XPS 15 and he says the game in unbearable to play when you would that it would be enough with its intel 3rd gen i7, 16GB ram and 512 SSD.

I run W8 with a low end 1st gen i7. I upgraded from W7.
Originally, minecraft didn't work for me after upgrading to W8.
I would recommend:
- Deleting the ".minecraft" folder and re-downloading the game
- Updating graphics drivers
I'm no support expert with client side problems (I work with server side things), but that's what I would do first.
