So my brother has his own Desktop and about 3 months ago he had Windows VISTA on it and Minecraft worked fine!
2 months ago the computer crashed, and now it has Windows XP on it. but the problem is that minecraft dose not work even though it is the same computer.
Things i have done to fix the problem
-Update direct X
-Update the Video card drivers
-Uninstall java and Re install the latest version
-getting a batch file that has OpenGL Disabled
- And MANY MORE
ALL of these do NOT WORK!
my brother really wants to do lets plays with me, and just play minecraft and he is really Bumbed.
So if any of you could help in any way it would be greatly appreciated if you dont want to talk here you can add my skype
more information would help with fixing the problem, what happens when you try to start minecraft.exe, if there are any errors what EXACTLY do they say

It appears you have a 32-bit version of Java installed. Try uninstalling all Java versions on your PC and downlading the 64-bit here. If that doesn't work, try posting a DxDiag for us, please.

NO NO NO don't do that. You have Windows XP 32bit so DO NOT install java 64 bit.
This looks like its an older GPU driver that may not have high enough OpenGL support. Posting the DXdiag report DewaldDeJager requested would be helpful.

A double resolution texture pack that stays faithful to the original Minecraft textures.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
