I had this world, eventualy it started lagging and not responding. I couldn't figure it out.
I would have to restart minecraft and it was still bugged out. The only fix was running away from my home and coming back as nothing could be interacted with, and when I got far enough away everything went superspeed, like the zombies and mobs moved superfast.
About a week this went on before I noticed a chunk was missing. With an edge of a dungeon sticking out. Lagg would return but when it did I noticed an enourmous amount of zombies freaking out in the empty chunk.
I eventualy deleted the world and started over because I couldn't find a fix for it. Minecraft runs fine, but I had one point on my new world after a few weeks where It was happening again. I couldn't interact with anything. Chests wouldn't open and it wasnt working properly. So I paused it and turned it to peacefull and unpaused it. Instantly the chest that wouldn't open popped up.
So I went back into pause and turned it back to normal difficulty. It seems to be ok again.
My home is usualy nearby some spawners. I think there is some sort of bug related to spawners where they suddenly go whacky. I just don't know what causes it or how it happens. My computer runs minecraft just fine. it's just this strange lagg that doesn't happen often if ever, and seems to be related to just 1 world when it does happen.
If anyone else knows ANYTHING about this. Please reply. If it happens again I will be sure to F3 and check that one number that seems to be related to mobs. If I turn my mob spawner on and stand near it, it usualy takes a couple hundred zombies before my pc starts to slow. The problem is on the first world this happened I didn't make a grinder or spend much time near the spawners.
I just lit the dungeons up and left them. The current world only has 1 spawner with a window and it is working properly. It is a zombie spawner I use often. I also know about a spider and skeleton spawner I havent done anything with.
If you have a chunk that looks gone with mobs stuck on the boundary or down inside it then it's a corrupt chunk.
Your best bet is to open your world up in MCedit go to the chunk and if it looks empty then it is definitely corrupt, select the chunk and tell MCedit to recreate it. This will return the chunk to its original state and anything you did there will be gone.
Corruption to world files is really common if you crash or close the minecraft client mid session without saving or on a laptop if you run out of battery.

Ahh.. I had quite a few crashes due to the lagg.
Basicaly it would freeze so bad that when I went to open it, it for a quick second would go back to the menu before loading the world. I would open it again while it was opening and it would crash..
Might be my fault. But this lagg is honestly the only thing that worries me. That world I don't have much of a use for anymore. Although it might be fun to work on. I just want to figure out what the lagg is. It doesn't lagg when I open and play it, but that chunk is missing. It was missing for quite some time during the problem.
Although the person above may be right about my computer being too bad to run minecraft. I would like to confirm it. Only the cpu is lacking, but that is the most important part for minecraft nearly.
I also don't have mc edit. I run a full vanilla. The only mod I ever used was a finite water mod on another profile. Probably unrelated. Tekkit only came a while after this problem, but I deleted it as well.
I'm not 100% sure but while your specs as posted in the other thread you linked are a little dated they should be sufficient to play Minecraft okay. You may have some minor lag at times, but it shouldn't be anything that would be unbearable. I recommend you try to get by for at least another minecraft version to see how things go. They are working on rewriting a lot of the core engines in the game, hopefully this will mean improved performance. Right now the gameplay even on a really good machine has a few hiccups.
If you truly get a crash report, post it here and perhaps we can find something that may be wrong.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
