I recently bought minecraft- really excited about it because then I could connect with my friends, and plus Ive played the Pocket Addition and thought it was awesome. So I registered, bought it, but for some reason I couldn't open a world.
It would say "Loading Terrian" and then just close on me.
As I kept trying, it wouldnt even get to the point where it would say MOJANG. Just go to black and shut me out, no error messages coming up.
I've gotten my computer wizard friends to help me but they cant figure out whats wrong either. I'm so confused and upset- 26 bucks down the drain. Can someone explain to me whats wrong?
(NOTE: I have Windows XP, latest version of Java, and the firewalls were taken down for MineCraft.)
Run this error tester and post a copy of the report here. It will give us some idea what is going wrong and will tell your system specs.

Nooooooo idea what this would mean. I'm a mild computer kinda girl
Now that's odd. The report isn't going to be as helpful as I thought. Apparently your windows install either has lost it's path the the wmic class or it isn't installed. Unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough in that area to help you make it work again. I just hope it's not a symptom of serious issues with your windows install.
I can see from the report that Java seems to be working and minecraft does launch (or at least tries to) so that's a good sign. I'm puzzled why the game would start giving you issues at the Mojang screen though. Have you or did your friends try doing a force update to reinstall the game files incase something got corrupted? You can do this in the login window, instead of logging in, click on the button at the bottom and tell it to force update.

Trust me. I've tried everything I possibly could: Force updates, uninstalling and reinstalling both java and MineCraft, and Im pretty much at wit's end here. I was looking forward to playing it this weekend by all I go was disappointment.
It wouldn't show the Mojang screen, it legit went to black and closed. I wouldnt know if anything got Corrupted- I wasnt informed and no one pointed Anything out to me.
I'm going to uninstall MineCraft and reinstall it and see what happens. If it works, I'll let you know. One more thing: what wmic?
There are possibilities that it may be your own computer OR it might just be Mojang trying to fix the bugs. Make sure you dont have any mods installed and post it at https://mojang.atlassian.net. Most bugs and such are found there.

Yes that site is safe. It is the official bugtracker that Mojang is using.
However this makes me wonder if your tight PC security is causing your issue. I know you said in the OP you took down the firewalls, but have you tried putting in exceptions into your Antivirus for minecraft and java to make sure it isn't blocking them?

Yep. I didnt want to go into that site cause Firefox was all: "Bro watch out this site connection lookin dangerous tonight (not actual words but a summary)". My AntiVirus.... well, I'll check right after I post this.
Thanks for letting me know, I'll use that site then. :3
I don't know what system specks I have. How do I check?
Java's latest update and Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0
I'm not all that great with things like this.. But my Java Runtime Environment is 1.6.0, not sure if that would make that much of a difference but there's always the chance. If not then I would say there's a problem with your windows itself, which is majorly bad.

But I've never experienced any problems with my Windows. Its run smoothly for, like, 7 years. Where would I download 1.6.0?
