Hello knowledgeable world of minecraft. I have a random question that I can’t quite find the solution to in various sites and forums I have checked.
I recently purchased the full version of minecraft (1.4.5) and also set up a server on my computer so a friend and I could try out minecraft together. We built, we destroyed, and we conquered.
So here is my question. I like a lot the changes and looks of the beta version of minecraft. I went and downloaded the client (1.8) and server to try it out. I was able to get the server up and running and the client to work as well. I copied over my world from the first version that my friend and I had built and mined and so forth and ran the game. The game loaded and went through the "converting process" but none of our buildings we had created did.
Am I doing something wrong (probably) and is there any recommendations you all can offer as to the best step by step approach to convert an old map (from a full version of 1.4.5) to a version that will run on the beta (1.8) version of the game.

Thanks in advance all.
