Hi I just purchased minecraft, downloaded the client, unzipped it and extracted it to my desktop (showing the little brick icon). When i click it nothing happens, the brick zooms out as though it's opening but nothing happens. When I open and explore contents and double click MinecraftLauncher.jar it loads the client, the login screen looks dodgy as then when i log in and go to make a work it just freezes saying "building terrain" or something.
Anyone know the issue?
Here are my specs:

I'm pretty sure you need at least java 6.
Your system is still using java 5. I'm not familiar enough with mac OS, but things I can find seem to hint that you can get java 6, but I wasn't finding any links to do so.
Okay, did not know that. Just found the download for it under Java 7
Here is a link which my Friend gave me: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359 but its for 10.5 (from June 28 2011?)
ya, I had seen that one also, but it looks like it isn't going to upgrade to java 6.
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 10 delivers improved compatibility, security, and reliability by updating J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26 for 64-bit capable Intel-based Macs.
Looks like it's just going to update his java 5 to 1.5.0_30, which he already has.
The second part.
Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26 for 64-bit capable Intel-based Macs.
is what led me to believe it might be possible to find a java 6, but perhaps his isn't 64 bit capable.
Anyone know the issue?
