Me and my friend are new to minecraft on pc, and we want to play on a world with each other. We live very far away, so we can't play on a LAN world. Also, neither of us are able to successfully create a server. We want it to be just us two and no one else. We have tried joining inactive servers, but they have terrible connection or have other problems. What can we do?

We want to play like as if we were on the Xbox version, if anyone knows how that is.

You can use LAN Mode for internet play, you just have to port forward if necessary and give the person your external IP rather than your internal one.
