every time i try to launch my minecraft it tells me cant connect to minecraft.net so i click play offline and i get a black screen and nothing else just a forever black screen. i checked my internet connection and it was fine,checked if the minecraft servers where and down there up i have no idea what to do. any ideas???


i fixed the black screen by deleting everything in my .minecraft except the bin and now the only problem left is the not connecting to minecraft.net any ideas on how to fix it

To me the black screening part sounds like you crashed. Do you have any mods installed?
Also have you successfully launched minecraft since you last modified any settings or the jar?

no mods and this was sudden i had just updated and couple of days later this happens and its been this way ever seance

This same thing is happening to me but it doesn't say it can't connect to minecraft.net, when I log in the screen instantly goes black.Also, I tried to play it in the browser and the screen for it came up, but instantly went clear and all I could see was the background.

Press start on the windows logo (If on Mac find it in the Libary section) then type in run then type in "%appdata%" (without this " in it) and delete the .minecraft folder.

BEFORE DOING SAID ABOVE MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP ALL YOU'RE SAVES AND OTHER STUFF BEFORE DELETING (All your saves and stuff are in that .minecraft folder)

Then try force updating.

If that doesn't work update your Java and maybe try updating your drivers.
