I'm trying to play Minecraft in multiplayer, with two different logins, but on the same internet connection. Playing with the bf.. Yes, we are nerds.
But not nerdy enough! We can't get it to work.
-Firewall has exceptions for Minecraft
-Didn't port-forward, but it's on the same router/internet connection.
-Error message: failed to connect, or timeout.
Have you tried connecting to more then 1 server, are you trying to play a LAN game?
I've connected to public servers in the past, although I couldn't figure out their rules etc. It worked, though.
We're trying to play a LAN game, by using the 'open to LAN' function. So, same server.
Have you tried fully disabling your firewall, that has worked for me. If you are playing LAN of course.
If its not a LAN world, you still have to port forward even if its on the same network.
Mmm... I guess we could try fully disabling the firewall, but I don't want to leave it that way. Viruses, etc. But it would give us a clue if that's the problem. Also, it is a LAN world. We are having a LAN party, haha. Well, trying to.
If it's a lan game are you using the ipv4 address of the computer hosting the LAN game.
If you use the external IP it won't work, you need to use the internal or ipv4 address.

Hmm.... I am trying to find the internal IP now. We disabled the firewalls momentarily and that didn't help.

Update: tried using the internal IP. Still no luck.
